How the Process Works

An Overview from A to Z

People often ask us how the process works, how to get started, and how long it all takes… This is the exciting part! Technology allows us to greatly simplify our process so that the least amount of time and effort is required by you. We can boil it down to Four Simple Steps:

1. Signing Up

Call us toll free or complete the “online quote” located on our website. Your account manager will send you a quote via email, along with the forms to sign up. You can return the completed forms to your account manager in several ways: Scan and email, text or fax them back along with a copy of your ticket. Your account manager will email you a confirmation upon receipt within one business day and set up your account.

2. Creating Your Defense

Once we receive your forms, one of our attorneys will be given your case and will go to work on your customized trial by written defense. Our normal turnaround time is 10 to 14 days, however, we do have rush services available.

3. Mailing Your Defense

Once the attorney completes your customized defense, he/she will email it to you. You simply print it, sign it, attach a personal check, cashier’s check, or money order for the bail/fine amount, and mail it off to the court listed on the ticket. You will get the bail/fine money refunded to you by the court if you win your case. Clear and simple instructions will be included with your customized trial by written declaration defense, as well as answers to commonly asked questions.

4. Waiting For Your Verdict

Once the court receives your defense package, a judge will make a decision within 4-12 weeks (depending on the court). The verdict will then be mailed directly to your address. Once you receive your verdict, you must send all pages of the verdict to your case manager ASAP.

Understanding Your Verdict

If the verdict is “Not Guilty”

When the verdict is “Not Guilty,” it means that the ticket has been dismissed! It’s as though the ticket has never existed. You will receive a check for the bail/fine amount via mail generally within 30 days. No point goes on your record, and your insurance carrier will never know that you received a ticket!

If the verdict is “Guilty”

If the verdict is “Guilty,” and you happen to fall into the 20% of clients who do not win, we can either provide a refund of the service fee or possibly set up a new trial (trial de novo) depending on the court. There are only 20 days to request for a new court trial date from the date the court mails you the verdict which is why it’s VERY important that you send it to us right away. One of our lawyers would then attend your trial on your behalf and attempt to win your ticket if it qualifies. If we lose the new trial you will still receive a refund of the service fee for losing your case.

Court Trial (CT) Service Our CT service includes one of our local lawyers attending your court trial, and attempting to dismiss your ticket completely. If a dismissal is not possible, the attorney will start the negotiation process and attempt to reduce your ticket to a no-point violation and reduce your fine amount as well. You will NOT need to be present at court since our lawyer will represent you and act in your best interests for winning your case and achieving the best possible outcome. We generally have a higher success rate with our court trials compared to Trial By Written Declarations, since our lawyers will try to negotiate the charges down if they are not able to fully dismiss your case.
